About Fort Lake Acres Lending Library

We are a small, private library serving discerning families with:
  • wholesome, virtuous books of principle
  • classical literature
  • books that honor God
  • living books*
We aim to provide not only some of the well-known, treasured books that you can find at the public library, but more importantly those that they will no longer provide - living books, those that are out of print, those with faith-based themes, and books associated with homeschool curricula.

*More About Living Books and Private Libraries

Michelle Howard, who many would say is the founder of private, lending libraries, has several videos that best articulate what living books are, why they are important, and why a private lending library should be considered.  The following video is an interview with Michelle Howard providing an overview of living books.
Michelle has also created short videos of the top 20 questions for the patrons in her own private libraries.  I've included a few below.  If you're interested in hearing more about living books, how they can be used in high school, how to handle reluctant readers, and several other topics, visit her YouTube channel here.  Michelle also curated all her knowledge of these books into a wonderful history curriculum called Truthquest, which I have used over the years and wholeheartedly recommend.
