1. Withdraw
The first step in homeschooling your child is withdrawing him or her from the public school. The office of your child's school should have a withdrawal form for you to sign. Expect pushback from the school, and hope for a pleasant surprise of no hassle. Thousands of dollars are lost by the school when you bring your child home with you. Teachers and administrators often feel that you are unqualified to teach your child, that it is not your role, or can feel personally offended. You know all of this is untrue, which is why you have arrived at this decision. Hold fast and keep calm.
If your child has not been enrolled in the public school yet (new to the area or under age 6), no withdrawal is needed. But you will still need to get legal. But before you get legal, BREATHE and don't panic.
